What is Karva Chauth?

Karva Chauth is a North Indian festival on which married women fast from sunrise until moonrise for their husbands' wellbeing. Applying mehendi the day before is part of the festive preparation and sola shringar.

The festival falls in the Hindu month of Kartik, usually in October or November. Mehendi artists get booked heavily for the day before, so early booking is important.
