What is Sangeet?

Sangeet is a pre-wedding celebration of music and dance in North Indian, Gujarati and many other Indian weddings, where both families perform for the couple. It is often combined with, or held near, the mehendi function.

Because the bride's mehendi needs time to dry, many families hold the mehendi in the afternoon and sangeet in the evening, or apply bridal mehendi after the sangeet.
