What is Lemon-Sugar Sealant?

Lemon-sugar sealant is a mix of lemon juice and sugar dabbed gently onto dried mehendi paste. It keeps the paste moist and stuck to the skin for longer, which helps the dye transfer and gives a darker stain.

Lemon-Sugar Sealant explained

It is applied once the paste has partly dried and is usually dabbed with cotton rather than brushed, so the design is not smudged.

Too much liquid can make the paste run, so only a light coat is needed. Some artists offer a sealant spray instead.
