What is Jharokha?

A jharokha is an ornate overhanging window from Rajasthani and Mughal architecture. In mehendi it appears as an arched frame, often with the bride or groom drawn inside, and as tiered architectural borders up the arm.

Jharokha explained

Jharokha motifs give bridal designs a regal, palace-inspired look and help divide a full-hand design into neat panels.

They are a signature of Rajasthani, Marwari and Mughal styles.
