What is Filling?

Filling is the pattern work inside an outlined motif - lines, dots, nets, shading or solid paste. The choice of filling controls how dense, dark and textured a mehendi design looks.

Solid fills give the darkest stain, while shading and fine nets look lighter and softer. Bridal designs mix several fillings to create contrast.
